ESPECIAL ELECTROSPOKENWORLD/ ESW. MÚSICA VS. LITERATURA

Por demanda popular, reponemos este programa, emitido el 4 de junio de 2009, donde se presenta el nuevo proyecto de Pablo Maffi: ElectroSpokenWorld, o ESW.

¿Qué es ESW?

ESW, o ElectroSpoken World, es el proyecto que, desde 2003, me permite combinar dos de mis más grandes intereses: la literatura y la música, en ese orden (en este caso).
El mensaje es aquí lo más importante, y con este formato lo que pretendo es dotar a las obras literarias de una mayor intensidad y de un mayor fondo a la música.
Antes de empezar el proyecto Dylan Thomas, ESW ya ha tenido un largo recorrido. La Noche de los Libros 2006, en el Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid, la gira por los diversos Caixaforum (Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca y Lleida) o la Setmana de la Poesia de Barcelona son algunos de los escenarios por los que han desfilado las narraciones y las canciones de Tim Leary, Malcolm X, Moondog, JS PApasseit, Herbert, Juan Rulfo, Balago, Robert Bly, Max Romeo, Ernesto Sábato, Fibla y Jaime Gil de Biedma, entre otros.
Ahora es el turno del gran poeta Dylan Thomas, al que he emparejado para la ocasión con temas de Professor Genius, Prins Thomas, Lee Morgan o Michael Mayer entre otros.

El programa de hoy está dividido en dos partes. La primera es una introducción al planeta ESW, lo cual incluye algunas influencias y alguna que otra obra anterior. La segunda es el estreno del nuevo proyecto: ESW does Dylan. El resultado es difícil de explicar, pero fácil de escuchar. Espero que lo disfrutéis.

01. Ama tu ritmo, de Rubén Darío, no podría ser una mejor introducción al espíritu de ESW.
02. Pappaherbert es una pieza que ha formado parte durante los últimos dos años del repertorio de ESW. Combina Les formigues, una pieza de JS Pappasseit, con The Whistler, tema de Herbert incluido en su album Indoor Fireworks.
03. A continuación uno de los clásicos de Dj Spooky, Galactic Funk (Tau-Ceti mix). Paul D. Miller aka Dj Spooky that Subliminal Kid, y más concretamente el CD Mix que acompañaba a su obra Rythm Science (MIT Press), es una de las principales referencias de este proyecto.
04. No menos influyente ha sido Saul Williams, probablemente la figura más destacada del Slam, una de las variantes del Spoken Word. Penny for a Thought es un ejemplo perfecto de su energía.

What is ESW?

ESW is the project that, since 2003, allows me to combine two of my greatest passions: literature and music (in this order).
The message is here the most important issue, that's why I use this format: it provides the message with more strenght (and the music with a greater depth).
ESW has already toured some of the most important literature/poetry/spoken word events in Spain: La Noche de los Libros 2006 (Madrid, 2006), Caixaforum (Barcelona, Lleida and Palma de Mallorca), Kosmopolis (Barcelona 2005), Setmana de la Poesia (Barcelona) and many others.
Some of the artists featured in this project are Tim Leary, Malcolm X, Moondog, JS PApasseit, Herbert, Juan Rulfo, Balago, Robert Bly, Max Romeo, Ernesto Sábato, Fibla and Jaime Gil de Biedma.
I now take on Dylan Thomas' poetry from a very personal angle, pairing it with artists such as Don Menza, Moondog, Tosca, Lee Morgan or Michael Mayer. The result is quite difficult to describe, but easy to listen to.

Terminamos con estas la trilogía de etapas dedicadas a La Cubeta Perdida -17, 18 y 19 Partes 1 y 2- y empezamos junio, el mes en que los festivales invaden la ciudad, preparados para terminar LE TOUR DE JACK.
Las próximas dos etapas, las últimas ya, serán un repaso a lo mejor de estos últimos 6 meses y a lo que está por llegar, sea vía festival o vía lanzamiento, a alegrarnos los oídos.
La etapa 18 no deja de ser una firme candidata a ser considerada La Rarita: 5 temas larguísimos y buenísimos.
La etapa 19 consta de dos partes y contiene un poco de todo, como nos gusta.
Así acaba La Trilogía de la Cubeta, ¡hasta la etapa 20!

The next two stages, the last ones, are to be a highlight of the last six months and a preview of some of the next big things to come, either via festival or via edition.
Stage 18 is a firm candidate to be considered The Weird One from now on: 5 super-long-super-good traxxx.
